Emission Technology

In order to meet increasing international emission requirements, there is a rising demand of customized solutions in emission after-treatment and related noise control in exhaust gas systems.

Due to these stringent emission requirements there will need symbiotic solutions to accommodate back pressure values and strict noise reductions requirements in the exhaust systems.

micfil AXCES introduces the complete in-house design, production and installation of fully-integrated packages of both soot filters, catalysts and SCR systems.

As part of its mission to introduce complete integrated solutions on emission control, micfil AXCES made an important step offering the market all-inclusive catalyst systems. As a result, engine performance can be improved more efficiently while meeting emission requirements.

Please feel free to contact us and we will plan, build and install your customized all-inclusive system.

The following micfil AXCES products are available:

The micfil AXCES diesel oxidation catalyst is a “two-way” converter which combines carbon monoxide (CO) and unburned hydrocarbons (HC) to produce carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O).

Diesel Oxidation Catalyst

A two-way (or “oxidation”) catalytic converter has two simultaneous tasks:

  • Oxidation of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide.
  • Oxidation of hydrocarbons (unburnt and partially burnt fuel) to carbon dioxide and water.

Conversion rates: CO: 70-95 %, HC: 70-90 %, Aldehyde: 70-90 %, PM10: 10-40 %.

SCR – Selective Catalytic Reduction

The micfil AXCES selective catalytic reduction (SCR) converts nitrogen oxides, also referred to as NOX , with the aid of a catalyst into diatomic nitrogen (N2 ) and water (H2 O).

A gaseous reductant, typically anhydrous ammonia, aqueous ammonia or urea, is added to a stream of flue or exhaust gas and is absorbed onto a catalyst.

Diesel Particulate Filter

The micfil AXCES PM-Metalit(Emitec)® flow-through filter is a revolutionary, flow-through diesel particulate filter that provides effective removal of diesel particulate matter and lower back pressure than conventional wall-flow particulate filters.

The micfil AXCES Emitec PM-Metalit™ substrate consists of alternating layers of corrugated metal foil and porous sintered metal fleece (see image). The corrugated foil is formed to direct the gas flow to the metal fleece. The diversion of the flow is caused by shovel-like structures stamped inside the channels at defined distances. Some of the gas flows through the sintered metal, which acts as a deep bed filter. Thus, the structure can be referred to as a “partial flow deep bed filter”. It should be noted that when the sintered metal becomes loaded with particulates, the gas flow through the sintered metal layer decreases. The corrugated channels, however, remain open and let the untreated gases pass through.
We can offer a variety of filter coatings and designs, depending on the engine application and duty cycle

Conversion rates: particulate matter (particle count, sulphur content of Diesel: <500 ppm): > 99%, particulate matter (PM10 – mass, ULSD fuel): ≤ 60 %, CO: 95%, HC: 85 %. The NOX/NO-ratio may increase.

The alternating foil and sintered metal layers are wound and brazed into a cylindrical honeycomb structure resembling a conventional metallic catalyst substrate.

They are installed in a steel canister.

The collected particulate matter passively regenerates an upstream NO2 catalyst, in a manner similar to two-stage particulate filters. In some systems catalyst coating is applied directly onto the flow-through filter substrate (in such cases, make sure that the metal fleece porosity is not blocked by the catalyst coating). Due to the presence of the oxidation catalyst, the flow-through filter also produces reductions in HC and CO emissions.

Three-Way Catalyst

The micfil AXCES three-way catalyst is designed specifically for use on gas, LPG and natural gas applications.

In addition to targeting carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons this catalyst will reduce NOX by up to 99% allowing engine applications to meet the most stringent emission standards.

Available as inline catalyst, catalytic muffler, flanged catalyst and QuickCat catalyst.

Conversion rates: CO: 90-99 %, NOx: 90-99 %, HC: 60-90 %, CH2O: 80-96 %, hazardous air pollutants: 80-96 %.

Oxidation catalyst

The micfil AXCES oxidation catalyst is designed for use on all diesel, gas, LPG and natural gas engine applications.

By reducing the exhaust pollutants from the tailpipe and ambient air your engine/equipment application will be able to meet and in most cases exceed the stringent and continually increasing emission standards. Available as inline catalyst, catalytic muffler, flanged catalyst and QuickCat catalyst.
Conversion rates: CO: 80-99 %, HC: 70-90 %, volatile organic compounds: 80-90 %, CH2O: 80-99 %, hazardous air pollutants: 80-99 %, particulate matter: 60-85 %.
